Indie X’s Portuguese Selection, curated by APVP, allowed Portuguese game developers to unveil their latest titles at the DevGAMM. In this spotlight, more than 500 industry professionals witnessed the creative brilliance of these Portuguese games. The showcase demonstrated the diversity and talent within the Portuguese game development scene. It provided an invaluable opportunity for these indie developers to connect with key figures in the industry, fostering collaboration and opening doors to new possibilities for their remarkable projects.
Also, during the event, we had the pleasure of organizing a panel about the Game Dev industry in Portugal with the presence of multiple stakeholders (from left to right):
- Adriana Faria – Legal Advisor @ Saber3D Porto
- Pedro Silveira – Startup Links @ AICEP Portugal Global
- Pedro Teixeira – Head of Partnerships – Startup Lisboa
- Ricardo Correia – Indie X & PS Talents (moderator)
- Rui Guedes – Director @ Ground Control Studios & Board Member @ APVP
- Guilherme Santos – Head of Studio @ Funcom
The panel was held on the second day of DevGAMM Lisbon on November 17th. It provided the foundations for a platform where developers, incubators/accelerators, and public agencies converged, fostering collaboration and dialogue.
Similarly to last year, APVP curated Indie X’s Best Portuguese Game! It was a delightful experience to witness over 40 submissions from Portuguese games for the competition, making selecting the top 12 even more demanding. The award ceremony occurred in DevGAMM’s Lisbon, and the Best Portuguese Game winner was Demon Spore (Steam & Website). The Director of AICEP’s Commercial Direction, Maria Manuel Branco, presented the award.Their presence added a special touch to the evening as we recognized and celebrated the creativity and innovation within our vibrant gaming community.
It was a joy to witness the incredible talent of our Portuguese game developers on display during DevGAMM Lisbon 2023! The energy was palpable as the next generation injected new ideas, growing studios showcased their potential, and industry veterans shared invaluable insights. Seeing APVP’s members and other Portuguese developers shine bright reinforces our collective work’s strength and highlights each contribution’s importance.
